Blackmagic Design Camera Fiber Converter
The Blackmagic Design Camera Fiber Converter transforms compatible URSA Broadcast and URSA Mini cameras into professional studio and outside-broadcast camera systems, allowing video, audio, control, talkback and power to travel over a single SMPTE hybrid fiber connection.
When paired with the Blackmagic Studio Fiber Converter, cameras can be positioned up to 2 km away from the studio or outside broadcast vehicle using industry-standard SMPTE fiber. This dramatically simplifies long-distance camera deployment by replacing multiple separate video, communications, control and power connections with a single robust fiber cable.
The system supports a main Ultra HD camera feed together with three independent HD return feeds, allowing operators to receive programme and other return video while sending the camera’s high-quality signal back to production. 12G-SDI connectivity provides support for HD and Ultra HD production formats up to 2160p60.
For camera crews, the converter adds familiar professional broadcast controls directly to the camera. Dual 5-pin XLR headset connections provide production and engineering talkback, while additional connectivity supports tracker talkback, tally, PTZ control and professional audio.
This makes the Blackmagic Camera Fiber Converter particularly valuable for sports, concerts, houses of worship, large venues, outside broadcasts and permanent studio installations where cameras need to operate significant distances from the production control room.
