The Blackmagic Design DeckLink IP HD Optical is a professional PCI Express capture and playback card designed for SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast systems that use optical fiber network infrastructure.

Instead of connecting to the IP network through conventional copper Ethernet, the DeckLink IP HD Optical features a 10GBASE-LR SFP+ optical fiber connection. This makes it particularly useful in professional broadcast facilities where longer cable distances, electrical isolation and fiber-based network infrastructure are required.

The card provides two channels of video capture and two channels of video playback, with each channel supporting video up to 1080p60 together with 16 channels of audio. This allows a single workstation to handle multiple professional IP video streams simultaneously.

Full SMPTE ST 2110 support allows video, audio and ancillary data to be transported separately across managed IP networks while remaining accurately synchronised. Support includes ST 2110-20 uncompressed video, ST 2110-21 traffic shaping, ST 2110-30 PCM audio and ST 2110-40 ancillary data, together with PTP timing and NMOS discovery and connection management.

The DeckLink IP HD Optical supports professional formats including Apple ProRes, DNxHD and 10-bit uncompressed video, making it suitable for broadcast editing, ingest, playout, graphics, monitoring and other computer-based production applications.

Its low-profile PCIe design also makes it suitable for compact rackmount servers and professional workstations where space is limited.

For broadcasters and system integrators building fiber-based SMPTE ST 2110 infrastructure, the DeckLink IP HD Optical provides a compact way to connect professional computer systems directly into the IP broadcast network without requiring separate external conversion hardware.
